Mid year review!
Now that it is the middle of July, I am tending to my 'year
end' post
tradition that I started at the end of 2016. I don't know why I didn't
do a year end recap this time around, although my sense is that it was a busy
fall and winter and it took a while to adjust.
2017 was very full on the
community theater front. There was the summer musical of The Little
Mermaid, a fall musical with Sister Act, and then I
rolled out for an unexpected delight late in the year and early into 2018
with The Hunchback of Notre Dame. Ah, now as I write that I am
clearer as to why 2017 was a blur.

And, because Jeff and I had the
wonderful opportunity to host an alumni trip to the Baltic Sea in August of
2017 (many blog posts forthcoming), that was two weeks overseas as well.
2017 felt full and
abundant, and frankly a bit overwhelming. I find I tend to get a good set of
activities, travel or time to visit family all set, and then other interesting opportunities come along and I add those until it feels like it is just all a
bit too much. That has been the same for 2018 when I booked several work trips,
but then added on my own personal trip extensions to them, added on family
time, had new responsibilities at work, and started a new string of habits. At
least I was smart enough not to do the summer musical.

So, at this transition moment
as I look at the remainder of 2018, I have a fair number of anticipatory
experiences coming up, including a family vacation to NYC, a trip down south
for a high school reunion, a renewed commitment to upping my fitness, plus the
morning habit
stacks. Fun items that now get to fill in any gaps include summer acting or
dancing class, a hand bell group that is getting up and running, deciding when
or if to play with my community orchestra, and taking a look at a musical late
this fall. I think that will keep me out of trouble.
